Employing an intercultural communication perspective, this qualitative case study explores how a female pre-service English teacher constructed her teacher identity during her final-year teaching practicum. To collect the data, the participant was requested to create digital storytelling and write a reflective journal exploring how she experienced intercultural learning and her identity negotiation process. A series of semi-structured interviews was conducted to elaborate on her digital storytelling and reflective journal entries. Through thematic analysis, the study revealed three major narrative threads that led to the construction of her intercultural teacher identity: 1) identity meaning-making through naming, (2) identity negotiation through multilingual language use, and (3) the development of an envisioned interculturally competent pre-service English teacher identity. © 2026 UCU.
