Abstract

This research aimed to describe the innovation of academic supervision undertaken by a principal. This study used the qualitative approach with a case study design. The research has been conducted since August 2015 in the Darul Ulum Elementary School, an elementary school with Islamic boarding in Indonesia. The research data was obtained through observation, interview, and documentation study. The data analysis was carried out through the stages of reduction, presentation, verification, and conclusion. Checking the validity or the correctness of the data in this research was undertaken by using four criteria: credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. The research results show that the principal conducts innovative supervision through three stages: pre-supervision, implementation, and following up. The result of the following up proves that the teacher's skill in conducting learning is improving. This case is known through the supervision process, completed in the next stage. © 2019, Primrose Hall Publishing Group.
