A cuttlefish bone contains Ca of 96.24% that is highly potential to be used in HA production. This study is focused to synthesize the HA by using starting materials of Ca(OH)2 from cuttlefish bone. A sonochemical method was implemented for preparing the HA/CS composites. The composition of HA/CS composites was maintained with a ratio of 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, and 60:40 (in %wt.). The synthesized of HA has a crystal size of 25.40 nm and the Ca/P ratio of 1.67. The XRD analysis showed that the increase of the chitosan content change crystal size of HA and HA/CS composites in nano-scale. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
