Abstract

One of the requirements of achieving success in school building, is community support. To create an excellent relationship with the parents as well as the community in general, schools can use communication technology and direct techniques. This study aims to describe and compare the effectiveness of communication techniques in establishing good school public relations. This research was conducted in the city of Batu Indonesia, where a population of 26 elementary schools were taken as samples. Data collection techniques used entails questionnaires and documentation, while data analysis techniques used entails descriptive statistics and t-test. The results showed that the frequency of use of direct methods was higher than the use of communication technology tools. In addition, the use of direct techniques is more effective than communication technology tools. The findings are discussed in details on theoretical basis as well as previous related researches. © 2019 IEEE.
