Enhancing e-learning with media-rich content and interactions is an appropriate strategy to increase its future efficiency and effectiveness. EPUB3 is an open media-rich document that offers forthcoming digital book standard. This study proposed a digital content model using EPUB3 to provide rich multimedia-based content in e-learning environments. Development results show that EPUB3 can produce content models that meet the characteristics of modern digital books. To find out the users' response, an experimental use involving university students participants was conducted. The results of the questionnaire stated that this digital book is suitable for use in e-learning systems. © 2019 IEEE.
