Abstract

It has developed computer-assisted recitation program to improve students' conceptual understanding on rotational dynamics. The program consisted of multiple choices questions with immediately feedback following each option. Each question was designed to uncover common students' naïve conceptions. The questions covered the concepts of rotational kinematics; relation of torque, moment of inertia, and angular acceleration; rolling motions; angular momentum; conservation of angular momentum; and rigid object in equilibrium. The program was piloted to 40 undergraduate students of physics education enrolled introductory physics in State University of Malang. This paper reports the effectiveness of the program based on the analysis of the students' scores on pretest and posttest. The result showed that the program significantly improved students' conceptual understanding with very high d-effect size (2.06) and n-gain (0.438). © 2019 Author(s).
