Fabrication of nanocrystalline carbon based on Corncobs charcoal

Abstract

In this work, nanocrystalline carbon was successfully fabricated based on corncobs charcoal was successful. The corncobs charcoal powder was synthesized by inserting into 40 mL of HCl solution, stirring at 750 rpm at room temperature using a magnetic stirrer and titrated using 20 mL of NH4OH solution. The carbon component (C) achieved an increase in the value of the atomic percentage of 72.69% after undergoing a synthesis process. The results of the diffraction pattern at an angle of 2θ =26.88° referred to the aromatic layer structure (graphite 002). Nanocrystalline powder corncobs used for TGA testing were 20.9 mg, with temperature ranging from 30 to 1200 °C and a rate of 10 °C/minute in the atmosphere of free air. There was a molecular bond C=C that formed the structure of benzene, which is a characteristic structure of carbon in graphite and graphene in the wavenumber of 1593.2 cm-1.
