Abstract

This research has been conducted to determine the effect of the Learning Cycle 4ERE (LC 4ERE) model on the learning motivation of vocational students in chemistry subjects. The study examined the influence of the LC 4ERE learning model on the motivation to learn adaptive chemistry of vocational students and how vocational students learning motivation in chemistry subjects can be improved through the implementation of LC 4ERE. The design used in this study was one group pretest-postest design, which was applied in one group of students of a vocational school in the City of Malang and another group of students of a vocational school in Singosari, Malang Regency. Samples were taken from 10th-grade students of Engineering Technology Vocational School or Automotive Vocational High School that has not yet implemented industrial engineering (industrial work practices). Based on the results of the study in terms of the pretest and postest of students' motivation, it was indicated that 1) There was an influence of LC 4ERE learning models on the adaptive chemistry learning motivation of Vocational students and 2) vocational adaptive chemistry learning motivation can be developed in each phase of LC 4ERE. The results of this study suggested that learning chemistry in vocational schools could support productive subjects on an ongoing basis to increase the motivation of vocational students in studying chemistry. The teachers of adaptive and productive chemistry subjects can plan together to develop learning models that are in line with the character of vocational students with the aim that vocational students are more motivated in learning adaptive chemistry subjects. © 2020 Author(s).
