Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia is triggered by high-fat and high-carb diet consumption thus induces oxidative stress and results in the formation of Glycation End-Products (AGE). The research aims to find out the influence of single clove garlic extract application on Glycation End-Products (AGE) level in the epididymis of high-fat and high-carb diet models mice (Musmusculus). The treatment groups are divided into six groups, namely standard, negative control (K-), positive control (K+), and treatment with an application of single clove garlic extract in various doses (125 mg/Kg BB, 250 mg/Kg BB, and 500 mg/Kg BB). The measurement of the AGE level in the epididymis of high-fat and high-carb diet model mice was conducted using the ELISA method. The measurement result indicated a significant influence on the decrease of AGE in the epididymis according to the ANOVA test (0.003). The result of a single Anova analysis, the RAGE level, is significant < 0.05 (0.0). The application of single clove garlic (Allium sativum L.) extract has a significant influence. The positive control group (K+) and single clove garlic extract treatment in a dose of 250 mg/Kg BW (P2) is the optimal treatment to reduce RAGE level in the epididymis of high-fat and high-carb diet model mice. © 2020 American Institute of Physics Inc..
