Abstract

Due to low voltage generation from the Photovoltaic system in Microgrid, a high voltage gain converter is needed to step up the voltage. One type of converter that has high voltage gain is an isolated converter. An isolated converter that usually comes with a transformer or coupled inductor leads to transformer core saturation problem that will increase the power losses, and the usage of the transformer makes this type of converter has a bigger size and dimension. To fix that, a new dc-dc converter topology is developed in this paper to acquire high voltage gain without using any transformer. This proposed dc-dc converter is using the active switches capacitor technique to achieve high voltage gain. The addition of a new configuration in this new topology leads to low voltage ripple on its capacitors, low voltage stress on its switches, and diodes. The steady-state analysis and comparative analysis are discussed in detail. Then, to verify the analysis result, simulation is done in this paper using the PSIM application. © 2020 IEEE.
