Abstract

Histology is a branch of biology that studies the tissue structure of humans, animals and plants in detail using a microscope on tissue preparations. Tissue preparations are flat, thin slices of tissue or organs on a processed glass object. Automatic tissue processor is a machine used to process tissue preparations, especially in the dehydration and purification stages. In the dehydration stage, the water content in the tissue preparation is removed by entering the tissue preparation into an alcohol solution. In the purification stage, the alcohol content from the dehydration process is removed using a xylol solution which can dissolve paraffin into the tissue structure. The dehydration and purification process can take 12 to 14 hours and requires supervision during the process. The automatic tissue processor in this study has been embedded with an Internet of Things (IoT) system that allows remote monitoring and controlling by utilizing an internet connection using a smartphone. So that during the tissue preparations process, the operator can remotely monitor the condition of the machine by checking at the parameters displayed on the smartphone application. © 2020 IEEE.
