One of the efforts to minimize the business expenses is to minimize operational costs, like electricity consumption. The way that must be done by kiosk owners is to know the habit of using electricity. Besides that, the use of conventional kWh meters requires an officer to check electricity consumption every month. It is not effective, because mall owners spend more money for the officer who works just to record the electricity usage every month, manually. So, an IoT-based kWh meter is needed so the officers can work efficiently. The prototyping method is used in this research. The objectives of this research are (1) Designing kWh meter data logger hardware using PZEM-004T with IoT capabilities, (2) Designing the database for data log, and (3) Testing the kWh meter data logger system using a certain load. The results showed that: (1) The kWh meter data logger hardware is working correctly. The PZEM-004T sensor can be used to measure electrical energy to be sent to the IoT system, (2) The data storage that using the Firebase database is running well. This data can be accessed by users through the website, and (3) The kWh meter data logger system based on the IoT can measure and display electrical energy used with additional features such as prediction and limitation. © 2021 IEEE.
