Science process skills are the basic skills of science that can be taught through scientific work-focused learning. This study's main purpose was to investigate the effects of RICOSRE, Problem Based Learning (PBL), and conventional learning models on students' science process skills based on gender differences. This study consisted of 80 male and 90 female tenth-graders from Public Senior High School Number 8 (SMAN 8) Malang and Public Senior High School Number 1 (SMAN 1) Singosari, Indonesia. A pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design was employed in this study. There were eight essay questions found both in the pretest and the post-test. Data analysis was performed using ANACOVA and LSD tests. The results showed that: (1) learners in the RICOSRE group had higher performance in science process skills than learners in the PBL and conventional groups; (2) gender differences had no effect on science process skills; and (3) RICOSRE learning model was effective in improving students' science process skills based on gender differences. Therefore, RICOSRE can be successfully used to promote students' science process skills. © 2021 Author(s).
