The extraction of strontium (Sr2+) from seawater has been of concern to many researchers. Sr2+ extraction is one solution to secure Sr2+ resources to meet current and future industry demands. In this research, we used the Sr2+ extraction method from seawater of the South Coast, Gulf Prigi using Fe3O4/MnO2/humic acid (HA) nanocomposites. The examining regeneration and reusability of the three cycles showed an adsorption efficiency of 99%. The adsorption efficiency in the first cycle was 95.13% and decreased in the next cycle. In seawater samples, our nanocomposites showed Sr2+ extraction efficiency of 50.54% from their initial concentration of 6.43 mg/L at pH 6.8. At pH 10, nanocomposites showed an extraction efficiency rate of 62.52%. Coating Fe3O4/MnO2 nanocomposite with HA can be an alternative adsorbent for the extraction of Sr2+ from seawater. © 2021 Author(s).
