Abstract

Uncertain conditions and not the optimal implementation of guidance and counseling to reduce academic stress for high school students in Malang Raya require innovation in delivering services. This study aims to analyze the counselor's need to develop a website-based self-help model of reality counseling to reduce academic stress for high school students. The research design is descriptive. The research population is high school counselors in Malang Raya. Samples were taken by using a multistage area random sampling technique. Online questionnaires collected the research data through google forms which were analyzed using descriptive techniques. The results showed that the self-help model of reality counseling was needed to optimize the implementation of guidance and counseling services to reduce academic stress for high school students in Malang Raya. The results of this study are used to develop a website-based reality counseling self-help model that can reduce academic stress for high school students in Malang Raya. The development is theoretically and practically acceptable in terms of accuracy, usability, convenience, attractiveness, and effectiveness according to guidance and counseling experts, experts in guidance and counseling media, as well as counselors and high school students in Malang Raya. © 2021 IEEE.
