Nur Hidayah, Yansen Alberth Reba
This chapter examines the integration of artificial intelligence in guidance and counseling services in Indonesia, focusing on students’ critical literacy, data rights, and ethical challenges in higher education. Using Social Cognitive Theory, critical digital literacy, and data sovereignty perspectives, the chapter explains how limited AI literacy may increase vulnerability to algorithmic bias and misuse of psychological data. It argues that AI should support, not replace, human counseling relationships while strengthening data protection and ethical governance. © 2026 by IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
