Power Flow Analysis for Diverting A Boiler Unit Distribution System at PPSDM Migas Power Plant

Abstract

Electricity acts as the main energy source to run all tools and machines in PPSDM Migas (Pusat Pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia Minyak dan Gas), especially in refineries and utilities. The load flow analysis in this case study aims to determine the flow of power from the electric power system at the PPSDM Migas diesel power plant when the boiler unit load is still supplied from transformer 10 and after being transferred to transformer 8 using newton raphson method. The Newton-Raphson method has better calculations for larger and nonlinear power systems. Based on the simulation with PSS/E, the total apparent power flowing in the distribution system of PPSDM Migas diesel power plant before the transfer of the load to the boiler unit was 580.5 kVA, the reactive power was 264.9 kVAR, and the active power was 516.6 kW. Meanwhile, after the transfer of the boiler unit load, the total apparent power flowing in the PPSDM Migas diesel power plant distribution system before the transfer of the boiler unit load was 583 kVA, the reactive power was 267.2 kVAR, and the active power was 518.2 kW. The change in load did not cause a failure in the distribution system of pltd ppsdm oil and gas. In addition, there are also output voltage conditions which include under voltage and over voltage but based on the electrical standard in Indonesia, SPLN, they are still acceptable. © 2021 IEEE.
