Abstract

Wireless technology continues to develop and makes it easier to transmit data over long distances using various devices of different specifications. The use of wireless technology in wireless sensor networks (WSN) or the Internet of Things (IoT) in various fields can assist in monitoring and controlling in real time and accurately. Wireless data transmission on devices near ground level may experience interference. This study examines the performance of LoRa as a wireless data communication technology that is applied to transmission with the position of the transmitter or receiver close to the ground surface. Performance parameters measured are RSSI and packet loss. Communication network planning begins with the design of the transmitter using LoRa SX1276 915MHz and the receiver using the TTGO Lora32 915 MHz microcontroller and designing field test scenarios with a maximum distance of 500m. The test results show that the average RSSI will decrease by -102.35 dBm and the average value of packet loss will be 12 for every 50m increase in distance. © 2022 IEEE.
