Abstract

In Indonesia, the agricultural industry employs up to 88.43% of the population and is currently beginning to face threats from weather instability brought on by global warming. Farmers still use the month calculation approach to determine when to plant potatoes without taking into account the local climate, particularly the temperature, humidity, and light intensity, which results in crop failures in some areas. The potato plants will be kept in optimal circumstances by the temperature, humidity, and light intensity monitoring system, which can be accessed using a smartphone application. The process of putting a system design into practice involves several steps, including developing the framework of the system, its hardware, the Internet of Things platform, and its criteria for recommendations. Based on the test results, the prototype can provide information on air temperature conditions, humidity, and light intensity in real-time. Both sensors can be used because the DHT22 sensor has a high level of precision, with error values for air temperature and humidity of 0.26% and 2.72% respectively, compared to the BH1750 sensor's error value of 0.841 %. The entire system, including the recommendation engine, is capable of operating effectively and in accordance with the set rules. © 2022 IEEE.
