Abstract

Zinc ion batteries (ZIBs) are low-cost, safe, ecofriendly alternatives to Li-ion cells. This work explored using reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) additives to enhance potassium hexacyanoferrate cathode ZIB performance and durability. Cyclic voltammetry revealed increased current and tighter potential window with rGO, signifying faster reaction kinetics. The rGO-PVA combination demonstrated synergistic effects, yielding high 13.07 F/cm2 capacitance exceeding other variations. Post-cycling SEM imaging indicated reduced corrosion and more homogeneous morphology with the rGO-PVA cathode. © Institute of Technology PETRONAS Sdn Bhd (Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS) 2026.
