The use of DC power systems has been abandoned in the past because it is more profitable to use an AC power system. Currently, DC power systems have begun to be used again in the field of renewable energy. The majority of renewable energies such as photovoltaic and wind power plants provide DC output. When the AC power system lacks power to supply the load needs, manufacturers prefer renewable energy. Renewable energy can supply additional power to the AC power system to form a hybrid AC/DC power system. The addition of renewable energy in the hybrid AC/DC power system has an impact on increasing the contribution of short-circuit fault currents. Very high short-circuit fault currents can make the CB unable to work normally and can damage the equipment in the hybrid AC/DC power system. Therefore, this study aims to reduce the contribution of the fault current using FCL. In the method section, several scenarios are created for different FCL placements. Different placement of the FCL affects the decrease in the value of the fault current. Each different FCL placement scenario gives different fault current reduction results as well. © 2022 IEEE.
