DS is a third-party logistics (3PL) service company facing problems with its inbound activities, especially the build-up of goods in the quality control area caused by reworked items being processed simultaneously. This situation leads to inefficiencies in the inbound process. The study aims to identify the types of waste in the inbound process and improve it through several proposals to reduce or eliminate waste. The method used is process activity mapping (PAM) to detail each activity and find waste, which is then visualised with value stream mapping (VSM). A risk analysis is conducted using fault tree analysis (FTA) to evaluate activities and identify root causes of the issues. Based on this analysis, alternative recommendations for process improvements are suggested to boost efficiency in the inbound process. Copyright © 2026 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.
