Recent research has shown that organometallics, characterized as metal complexes that contain a minimum of one direct covalent metal-carbon bond, can contribute as good candidates for future medications, mainly due to their considerable structural variety (from linear to octahedral and more). Besides, these compounds show kinetic stability, typically no charge, relative lipophilicity, and a low oxidation state of their metal atoms. In the past 10 years, a lot of research has concentrated on altering these chemicals for use in medicine and other fields including wastewater treatment and renewable energy. Organometallic compounds, including metallocenes and half-sandwich have a high potential in medical applications including anti-cancer compounds. Therefore, organometallic compounds have been used to improve many applications, such as drug delivery, renewable energy, and wastewater treatment. This research (chapter) has focused on the applications and properties of organometallic compounds in the three applications mentioned above. © 2023 WILEY-VCH GmbH.
