This study aimed to identify the challenges faced by physics education during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. A semi-structured interview was used to explore the views of a physics teacher and a physics lecture. This study revealed a case study for a vocational school and a state university in East Java Province, Indonesia. The participants believed that there were no significant issues for evaluation and measurement in their physics class during the COVID-19 pandemic because of the availability of ICT supports during the evaluation process. On the other hand, the study found that the most important issue is the teaching and learning process where it was estimated can be delivered about 30% of intended topics. In addition, the issue on the evaluation during this pandemic is how to evaluate student practical work such as laboratory works required for physics. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc..
