How is Physics Student's Ability in Interpretation Kinematic Graphs? Case Study Learning of the Covid-19 Pandemic

Abstract

Interpreting kinematics charts is one of the important skills in learning kinematics. This study aims to identify the ability of physics students in interpreting kinematic charts, as a result of distance learning. This study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method using an instrument adapted from TUG-K (Phage, 2017). The results showed that physics university students could interpret kinematics graphs by 44% on the positive/negative gradient aspect, 70% on the constant gradient aspect, 69% on the reading point aspect, 46% on the gradient calculation aspect, 35% on the area calculation aspect and 73% on the aspect of graph transformation/variety. Interpreting graphs needs attention in the kinematics topic because this is a fundamental step for students in understanding kinematics concepts. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc..
