This study aims to analyze the level of students' conceptual understanding of momentum and impulse. The study used a survey method on 70 students at Senior high schools in Bengkulu, Indonesia. The study used 10 open-ended questions with an instrument reliability of 0.774. The data was analyzed with descriptive statistics and conceptual understanding level of the item concepts. Categories used include No understanding (NU), Specific Misconception (SM), Partial Understanding with specific misconceptions (PUSM), Partial Understanding (PU), and Sound Understanding (SU). The results showed that students have a conceptual understanding of students on the concept of momentum and impulse at the level of PUSM. In momentum sub-concept at the level of PU, impulse sub-concepts at the level of PUSM, the subconcept of Conservation of Momentum Law at the level the concept of the law of conservation of momentum in several cases, analyzing the magnitude of the collision concept. The level of students' conceptual understanding of the concept of momentum and impulse is 58%. In further research, it is recommended to use phenomenon-based learning to apply the concept of momentum and impulse in learning so that students can more easily understand the concept. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc..
