Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the potential-based ecosystem and environment module of the brackish pond on the improvement of students' critical thinking skills. This study is a quasi-experimental study with a nonrandomized control group pretest posttest design. This study involved 10th grade students' from Senior High School Nurul Jadid. The class used as the experimental group was class X IPA 4 with a total of 30 students taught using the ecosystem and environment module based on the potential of brackish pond, while class X IPA 5 as a control class with a total of 31 students was taught using the PBL learning model and without modules. Data on critical thinking skills were taken using description questions given before and after learning. Data were analyzed using one way analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) test. The results showed that the ecosystem and environment module based on the potential of brackish pond was proven to have an effect on increasing students' critical thinking skills p (0.000) < α (0.05) with the average value of critical thinking skills of experimental class students being higher than the control class 9.47 > 5.03. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc..
