Abstract

Implementation of renewable energy, especially solar energy, serves new challenges to the existing traditional grid. The electric energy generated from the sun is converted to AC current with an inverter to supply loads on the grid. However, the inverter connected to the grid must synchronized with the grid. The grid system requires advanced technologies to integrate the PV. This research aims to develop a prototype of smart nano grid 1 kW using PV as distributed generator. The method used is experimental design method which consists of design & modelling process, breadboarding, laboratory test, prototyping, small-field test, evaluation, and analysis. According to the test, the conclusions are the prototype is able to convert DC to AC output 220V, capable of supplying the loads up to 5A AC with power factor approaching 1, and highly efficient in battery consumption which makes the prototype is eligible to be applied in campus buildings with high demands of electricity. © 2023 IEEE.
