A15 isolate (Stenotrophomonas maltophilia) was selected based on its ability to produce Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) compounds. The endophytic were obtained from the medicinal plant Cinchona ledgeriana Moens. S. maltophilia was then inoculated with Artemisia annua in plant tissue culture using the dual culture method to elucidate the general mechanism of the interaction effect between bacteria and plants. Parameters measured included morphological aspects such as height, fresh weight, dry weight, root length, and the number of leaves. In addition, physiological such as chlorophyll content was also measured. The results show that all growth parameters are significantly higher in plant tissue cultures inoculated with S. maltophilia than in control. Most significantly, the bacteria can induce root growth twice as long as the control. In addition, a higher amount of dry weight may indicate higher production of biomass and metabolites. This initial study demonstrate the ability of S. maltophilia to colonize artemisia roots and improve plant growth parameters. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
