In Indonesia, coal is used for the fuel in the cement processing and electric steam power plant that produce waste products in the form of fly ash. CLC which is made from cement, water, fine aggregate, and foam is one of the solutions that can be used to reduce the impact of power plant waste and also indirectly reduce CO2 from producing cement materials. The cement can be substituted with HVFA (High Volume Fly Ash) which is the composition of fly ash between 60% until 80%. HVFA CLC is chosen, because the production process is simpler than Very HVFA which requires an activator, so it can be applied easily by the public. To obtain the best composition, testing of the materials were carried out first, then a trial mix was made to get the compressive strength and dry weight according to standardization. After that, the testing objects were made to test the compressive strength, flexural strength, splitting tensile strength, modulus elasticity, dry weight, drying shrinkage, and water absorption. In order find the optimum of fly ash and the lightest CLC products that are more economical, the specimens were made with 3 variations of binders consist of 30% cement: 70% fly ash; 25% cement 75% fly ash; 20% cement 80% fly ash that were tested at 3, 7, 14, 21, and 28 days for compressive strength and splitting tensile strength. Other than, dry weight, water absorption, drying shrinkage, modulus elasticity and flexural strength are tested at 28 days. With this research, the physical properties can be known from dry weight, water absorption, and drying shrinkage. Mechanical properties of it are compressive strength, flexural strength, splitting tensile strength, and modulus of elasticity. All the testing methods will show the effect of HVFA on CLC as well as the advantages and disadvantages of it, and also can show the correlation between their properties. © 2023 Author(s).
