Analysis of Magnetic Susceptibility and Chemical Elements of Hot Spring Sediment in Tiris Village, Probolinggo Regency

Abstract

One of the geothermal manifestation is hot springs. The East Java region has geothermal potential which is estimated to have reserves of 479 MWe and resources of 203 MWe, one of which is spread in Tiris-Lamongan. In this study, samples were taken from the hot springs in Tiris Village, Probolinggo Regency. Samples were taken as many as 60 holders from 6 hot spring sediment collection points. The sample was analyzed based on the measurement of its magnetic susceptibility and analysis of the magnetic mineral element content of the sediment contained in the hot springs of Tiris Village, Probolinggo Regency. The magnetic susceptibility value of hot spring deposits in Tiris Probolinggo has a low-frequency magnetic susceptibility value range (%lf) between (16.01307-84.72543) × 10-6m3/kg and for a high-frequency magnetic susceptibility value range (χhf) between (15.86447-83.32626) × 10-6m3/kg. Then, based on the results of the XRF (X-Ray Fluorensence) test, the hot spring deposits contain chemical elements including Al, Si, P, K, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Rb, Sr, Ba, Eu, Re, Na, Mg. The content of Fe (Iron) is the element that has the highest percentage of other elements. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
