Nanoparticles are one of the newest technologies that aim to increase the heat transfer that occurs in heat exchangers. This research was carried out to find thermophysical properties with volume fraction variations in nanoparticles. Characterization of the sample morphology and composition of chemical elements using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM-EDX). X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) characterization was used to determine the formed phase. Fourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR) is used to investigate molecular changes. The effect of variation on nanoparticles aims to determine the potential performance of nanofluids to be applied to solar collectors. This study uses nanofluids Multiwalled carbon nanotubes using a two-step method, where nanofluids are formed by adding nanoparticles to the base fluid. MWCNT is a type of Carbon Nanotube which is composed of concentrated graphene cylinders and has a larger structure. The volume fractions of nanoparticles used were 0.1%, 0.3% and 0.5%. The results of this study indicate that the addition of MWCNT-water nanoparticles with mass fractions of 0.1%, 0.3% and 0.5% can increase the thermophysical properties in the form of density, thermal conductivity and kinematic viscosity, but the thermophysical properties of specific heat tend to decrease. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc..
