Abstract

In the current COVID-19 pandemic situation, lesson study is a good means to find out overall learning activities in our online learning forum. Through lesson study, the learning activities can be monitored properly because teachers work collaboratively to formulate goals for student learning, plan a lesson, teach and/or observe the lesson, reflect on the gathered evidence, revise the lesson for improvement, and re-teach the revised lesson. This article aims to improve collaboration and communication skills among Biology Education graduate students in online learning during pandemic COVID-19. The subjects were 22 Biology Education graduate students divided into 6 groups consist of 3-4 students in education quantitative research methodology course at Universitas Negeri Malang. The action research was carried out in two learning cycles with different models and learning materials on November 2nd, 2020 for the cycle I and December 21st, 2020 for cycle II. Based on the results of the assessment carried out during the two cycles, the model lecturer succeeded in improving student communication skills, but there was a decrease in collaboration skill score. Therefore, the research must continue to determine the effect and causes of failure in improving these two skills. © 2023 Author(s).
