Hydrocarbon monomers are the main constituents of plastics products formed by a variety of polymer chains. Microplastics that are dominated by synthetic plastics tend to be difficult to decompose in the environment. The problem of microplastic accumulation requires immediate treatment through continuous research related to the plastic remediation process in the environment. In this study, the genomic and proteomic analyses of Bacillus subtilis isolate were carried out by the BLAST method with the NCBI database. The analysis of genomic and proteomic included genome identification, the location of specific genes, and characterization of the proteins involved in the expression of Bacillus subtilis as a potential microplastic bioremediation agent. The analysis results showed that the genome length of Bacillus subtilis is 4,215,606 bp, with the location of the ClpP gene at 3,544,642 to 3,552,363 bp. The ClpP gene expresses proteins with the ClpP family domain associated with ATP-dependent Clp proteolytic activity. This proteolytic activity has a vital role in helping Bacillus subtilis use microplastics as a primary carbon source. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
