Development of IoT Based Energy Monitoring System Trainer for Energy Management Course

Abstract

Electrical energy in Indonesia comes from various power plants. One of the energy sources used is solar energy with a usage percentage of 0.003%. The potential for the use of solar energy is still very large, especially in Indonesia with tropical regions. Solar energy can also be used in making learning media in the form of trainers. Based on trainer observations conducted at the Energy Conversion Laboratory of the Department of Electrical Engineering Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia, there are solar power generator trainers that not suitable to support the Energy Management Course because there are no energy production control and load management features. While The energy management course discusses control of energy production and load management, so it is necessary to develop trainer to achieve the learning objectives of energy management courses. The development model used in this research is based on Sugiyono’s model. The validation process was done by expert 1 and expert 2 while the product also was tested on undergraduate student in the Electrical Engineering and vocational student of Electrical Engineering who have already studied about Energy Management Courses. The validation result of trainers shows the average percentage of 94.2% while the job sheets as the support material for trainer has validated with the average percentage of 94.3%. This result shows the eligibility category is very feasible. Furthermore, the testing result of trainer which is done by students has the average percentage of 93.1% while that of the job sheet has the average percentage of 92.8%. This result means that the eligibility category in the testing case is also very feasible. From the results of the data analysis, it can be concluded that the IoT-based energy monitoring system trainer and the energy management job sheet is feasible to use in the learning process of the Energy Management Course, Department of Electrical Engineering, Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc..
