Abstract

Recently, the use of fungicide has developed the fungus to be resistant. Thus, many studies seek to establish effective antifungal agents. In this study, the Fe3O4 nanoparticles combined with Ag nanoparticles forming diethylamine template-assisted nanocomposites that function as antifungal agents have been successfully synthesized. The formulation of Fe3O4 nanoparticles was carried out using the sonochemical method, while the Fe3O4/Ag was formulated using the reduction method. The research results suggested that a 7.5 mL diethylamine can control the Fe3O4 particle size so that the particle becomes smaller (11.0 nm). The FITR results showed that the functional group of Fe-O octahedral and the Fe-O tetrahedral had been observed in the Fe3O4/Ag nanocomposites, signifying that the Fe3O4 crystal structure is spinel inverse cubic. The SEM test results indicated that the Fe3O4/Ag nanocomposite morphology possessed a non-identical particle size with some particle forming flocks and creating agglomeration with the distributed particle size of 57.7 nm. Interestingly, the Fe3O4/Ag nanocomposites played excellent performance as antifungal agents, represented by the exceptional antifungal activities with an inhibition zone diameter of 14.7 mm. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc..
