Planning and Feasibiity Study for Solar Street Lighting in Tunggorono Village

Abstract

This study aims to examine the solar street lighting (SSL) planning in Tunggorono village by designing and calculating based on the SNI 7391:2008 standard and the PLTS planning standard. The result showed that Tunggorono village roads require 60 SSL poles of 6m height with the 20° tilt angle arms separated 40m from each other. The village roads have four section where one section is two lane two separated way while the other three roads are single lane two unseparated way. Section 1 requires 14 dual arm SSL installed in the middle of road median and 46 single arm SSL installed on a roadside on section 2, 3, and 4. A dual-arm SSL supports of 2 20W DC LED lights, a 160Wp polycrystalline solar module, two 55Ah VRLA Gel batteries, and a 20A MPPT controller. A single-arm SSL hold up of a 20W DC LED lamp, polycrystalline solar module 100Wp, VRLA Gel 55Ah battery, and 10A MPPT Controller. The calculation of the initial investment for the procurement of 60 SSL components is Rp. 341,425,000.00. Then operational and maintenance costs of the SSL system are IDR 1.780.050.00 per year. Energy costs for investment and operations are Rp. 1,396.77/kWh or 3.32% cheaper than the basic electricity tariff of PLN, which is Rp. 1,444.70/kWh. The feasibility of investing using the NPV, PI, and PP methods shows that the SSL planned in Tunggorono village is feasible to implement. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc..
