This study developed the application of adsorbent material from the sea sediment as an absorbent for reducing nickel ions on a laboratory scale and compared its ability with commercial adsorbents. The sample adsorbent was produced by reflux method using a mixture of HCl and HNO3by calcinating at 800°C. The sample characterization was carried out, including SEM-EDX, XRD, XRF, and Methylene blue test. Sedimentary adsorbent material has the main constituent of silica with inhomogeneous and agglomerated particle forms. The equivalent diameter of AMS is 6495.77 m with a crystalline phase and has a surface area of 144.36 m2/g. The effectiveness of AMS adsorption on nickel metal is 30.7 mg/g. Activated carbon has a better effect than silica sea sediment and other commercial adsorbents. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
