Injection Molding Machining, the process of molding/forming plastic material by injection can be applied in the mass production process, which the productivity of a process in injection molding can produce a design (product) with good quality with minimum product defects (warpage). The quality of the product with minimum warpage can be affected by the parameters used during the injection molding process. One method that can be used to improve product quality with minimum product defects is to use the Taguchi method, which does not only improve product quality but can also be used to produce a product design with quality that is resistant to noise factors or produce the best product design (robust design). This study aims to produce minimum warpage on products from the injection molding process using polypropylene material, and this study also uses a variety of parameter settings used in injection molding, namely: Injection Speed (SI), Injection Pressure (PI), Injection Time (TI), Temperature on Barrel (TOB) with 3 levels in each parameter. The combination of 4 parameters with 3 levels will produce an L9 experimental design obtained based on the fractional orthogonal array of the Taguchi method. The experimental design of L9 will be repeated 3 times to determine the average fluctuation and estimation along with the standard deviation of each sample. The results of this study produce minimum warpage that occurs in the product both in the direction of the X and Y axes, where the product that has been produced by the Taguchi method provides a significant increase that can be seen based on the value of the gain S/N ratio between the robust design and the initial design on each the axis. © 2023 Author(s).
