Integrating Wind and Solar Energy: A Study on Measurement Accuracy and System Stability

Abstract

This research addresses the challenges of erratic energy production in wind and solar power generation due to weather dependency and efficiency variability. It focuses on real-time monitoring of a hybrid wind and solar power system using the Internet of Things (IoT) and the Blynk app to collect data on voltage, current, and power output. Additionally, this study examines the accuracy of the DFRobot INA219 sensor for measuring output voltage and current, comparing its readings with those from standard multimeters to identify any sensor error. The results reveal a slight average error of 0.169% for voltage and 0.212% for current, which are within acceptable sensor tolerances. Analysis indicates that while both wind and solar sources experience fluctuations, the hybrid system enhances voltage stability and consistency. Key factors such as wind speed and temperature significantly influence energy generation, with wind speed affecting turbine output and temperature impacting solar panel efficiency. By integrating both renewable sources, the hybrid system mitigates individual limitations, resulting in more reliable energy production throughout the day. This research underscores the benefits of combining multiple renewable energy sources to improve overall performance and ensure stable power output in varying weather conditions. © 2024 IEEE.
