Experiential learning model for physics virtual reality design: A case study of pre-service elementary school teachers

Abstract

Three-dimensional media design is a challenge for pre-service teachers in realizing real learning of abstract physics concepts. Virtual reality (VR) is one of the popular three-dimensional media for design by pre-service teachers. However, the perception of the design is still little revealed. This research explores preservice teachers' perception factors when designing using experiential learning to design virtual reality. This study involved 5 pre-service teachers by documenting the design results and interviews. These results are grouped problem problem-oriented and design oriented. The results show differences in the characteristics of problem solving, which are student characteristics and material characteristics. At the same time, the design is oriented to the features of the application used. The implications of technology courses for future teachers are geared toward mature problem-solving and interactive design in VR. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.
