This research attempts to examine the contributing factors, and analyze the policies and strategic efforts of madrasah (in Indonesia) in preventing acts of intolerance. This study uses a descriptive qualitative design, with data collection through open questionnaires and interviews with 29 Madrasah Aliyah (MA) teachers. The results show that there are internal and external factors that trigger intolerance. Internal factors include the weak internalization of national values in the curriculum and family parenting patterns. Meanwhile, external factors include the influence of social media, exclusive socioreligious communities, and limited cross-cultural interaction. The policies adopted by madrasahs include three approaches: regulatory (rules and sanctions), cultural (positive habits, inclusive classroom atmosphere, religious culture), and educational (integration of religious moderation into learning). These three approaches have been deemed effective in reducing the crisis of intolerance in recent years. The study recommends strengthening the religious moderation curriculum, improving teacher mastery and competence, and collaborative guidance between madrasahs, families, communities, and the government so that madrasahs can function as centers for shaping a moderate and inclusive generation. The impact of this research, this research theoretically provides a new perspective on Islamic studies in Indonesia on a global scale, particularly in relation to the context of schools and religion, which are currently a focus for educational researchers. Practically, this study can serve as a reference for teachers and principals in their teaching. Teachers and principals can use the results of this study to strengthen the Indonesian curriculum related to character education. Furthermore, this research can encourage a stronger synergy between education, religion, family, and school. Through this synergy, it is hoped that school education will improve, encompassing cognitive, affective, psychomotor, and moral aspects of students. © 2026, Malque Publishing. All rights reserved.
