Abstract

This study aims to determine the need for local potential-based modules that will be used in the learning process at Public Senior Hig School 1 Tembilahan Hulu in learning biology. The type of research is qualitative descriptive. The research was conducted on 100 students of XI Science Class of Public Senior Hig School 1 Tembilahan Hulu in August 2020. Collecting data from the needs analysis of the local potential module through a google form questionnaire by students. The results of the questionnaire show that students in the learning process only use textbooks, worksheets, modules and sources from the internet. The examples given by the teacher during learning are still general in nature, not specific about plants and animals in the Riau area. Learning methods in terms of practicum need to be improved, either in the field or in the laboratory. Based on these results, it is necessary to develop teaching materials in the form of local potential-based biodiversity modules. © 2024 Author(s).
