Abstract

The railroad crossing gate serves to warn road users to stop when the train passes. But in fact, many railroad crossings do not have doorstops so that many road users are not careful when crossing. The operation of the doorstop has a weakness, namely that it requires guard officers who must always be on standby to observe if a train approaches. One solution to overcome these weaknesses is to develop a doorstop control system that works with 2 stages of verification, the vibration sensor module is used as a warning and then the decision to close the doorstop is operated by the operator with a radio remote. System development with 2 stages of verification is intended to avoid work errors. The control system was developed using the ATMega328 microcontroller on the Arduino mini module. Solid state relay (SSR) is used as a driver that controls a single-phase electric motor. The 433MHz RF module is used to control the doorstop remotely so that the operator can directly operate the doorstop. The speed of the electric motor is calculated by infrared sensors and connected to the gearbox. Development of program logic using ladder diagram programming language with LDmicro. In the ladder diagram that is made, there are counter and timer functions that function to move the doorstop and protection against possible faults in the control system. To move the doorstop 90ºit takes 30 rotations of the electric. Based on the results of trials conducted at railroad crossings for 2 weeks, it can be concluded that the Arduino based automatic doorstop control system with LDmicro can work effectively. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc..
