Conceptual Changes in Problem-Based Distance Learning with Edmodo on Wave Materials

Abstract

In school physics material, especially wave material, students still have difficulties. The purpose of this study was to explore student's conceptual Changes in Edmodo-assisted distance learning on wave material. The stages of investigation, development, and presentation of works as well as analysis and evaluation are able to improve student's understanding of wave concepts. This study used an embedded experimental research design. The data was obtained in the form of tests, observations, and interviews on 70 students of class XI MIPA 1 and 2 SMAN 2 Jember. Data were analysed using n-gain and effect size. The results of the picture concept understanding test are based on student's answers. The grouping of these categories is No Understand (NU), Specific Misconceptions (SM), Partial Understanding (PU), and Sound Understanding (SU). The results showed that students experienced an increase in concept understanding as many as 88 people. While the control class has as many as 65 people. At an early stage, most of the students answered in the category of No Understanding (NP) and Partial Understanding (PU). Meanwhile, in the final stage, most of them were in the Sound Understanding (SU) category. The study suggested further research to improve understanding of wave concept, for example using more problems and using other media such as google classroom. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc..
