Abstract

Agriculture technology is growing rapidly nowadays. Since weather changes often, such as the rainy season, it is difficult to predict when the watering process should be executed automatically. Furthermore, the limited land due to many housing and industrial developments leads of decreasing the area for agricultural land. This problem could be solved by implementing greenhouse technology, such as vertical farming. This technology can treat plants in the vertical farming by using watering control. Watering control system is developed and modified using the existing watering control system for vertical farming. However, the watering system is improved by adding monitoring system remotely. The design of the proposed system uses Internet of things (IoT) that utilizes a Wi-Fi connection or cellular hotspot. This system is implemented to control plant watering. The proposed system is developed using the Telegram Bot Application. The system works by controlling the water sprinkling valve. The advantage of this proposed system, the user can monitor the condition of the valve activation by utilizing the hall effect sensor. In addition, the system is able to take photos of plants and users can get feedback messages in the form of watering process photos. Thus, users can monitor the system whether watering in process/not or error system occur/not. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
