Many skills are needed to face global challenges because the longer life necessities will be more complex than in the previous era. One of them is problem solving skills that play a role in problem solving. This study aims to determine students' problem solving skills through Lesson Study (LS) by applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a qualitative descriptive approach. The research was conducted on 22 students of the State University of Malang who took the 21st Century Biology Learning course in the 7th semester of the 2019/2020 academic year. This research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle has 2 meetings. The instrument used was a problem solving skill sheet. The indicators of problem solving skills that are measured are problem identification, solution identification, and maintaining the chosen solution. Result of this research showed that LS-based PBL could improve students' problem solving skills. In first cycle students' problem solving skills were 54.4 and in second cycle increased to 78.4. Based on these results, learning by applying PBL-based LS can improve students' problem solving skills. © 2024 Author(s).
