Development of an integrated science e-module with the theme of global warming based on problem-based learning to improve understanding of class VII junior high school students

Abstract

Improving the quality of education can be used as a means for the rapid development of science and technology. Technological advances allow the development of e-module teaching materials. The purpose of this study was to develop an e-module based on Problem-Based Learning to improve students' understanding of appropriate global warming material. This study uses a 4D model, which is varied into 3D, which consists of definition, design, and development. The e-module was tested on a limited basis to 18 seventh-grade students of SMP Darul Quran Singosari. The validity of the media obtained a percentage of 85% with a very valid category, material validity obtained a percentage of 87% with a very valid category, and the validity of the concept of truth obtained a percentage of 100% with a very valid category, the practicality test of teachers obtained a percentage of 80% with a practical category, and practicality test by students obtained a percentage of 87.8% with a very practical category. Sig value. The results of the normality test, that is, 0.200> 0.05, it prove that the data results before and after the test are normally distributed so that it can be continued with the t-test to determine the increase in student understanding after the implementation of learning. Sig value. (2-tailed) based on the t-test that is 0.000<0.005, which proves that the use of e-modules in Problem-Based Learning-based learning is effective in improving students' understanding. © 2024 Author(s).
