Emergency Medical Services (EMS) constitute a system that links prehospital care, the patient transfer process, and in-hospital care. This study focuses on the operational level by addressing the optimal placement of ambulances to enhance emergency response services in Rengasdengklok, a district in the West Java Province comprising six villages. Currently, Rengasdengklok has only one public ambulance located at the Rengasdengklok Public Health Service. The issue is that sometimes it takes more than 15 minutes to reach the patient, exceeding the standard response time. This delay in response time is believed to be improvable. Therefore, the research aims to analyze the existing locations of public ambulances in Rengasdengklok and identify optimal locations that can reach patients within 15 minutes. The method employed is the 1-median method, to determine the optimal ambulance placement ensuring adherence to the standard response time and coverage modelling to determine the optimality of ambulance location based on demand coverage. The results reveal that the current ambulance location at Puskesmas Rengasdengklok is suboptimal, leaving some villages inaccessible within a 15-minute timeframe. As a result, potential new locations were explored. The research highlights North Rengasdengklok as the most suitable location, effectively covering all areas within Rengasdengklok within a 15-minute radius, thereby maximizing coverage for the demand. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc..
