Lecturers are educators who hold a significant influence in directing the implementation of learning. A lecturer must always update information and keep up with the times with the aim that their skills continue to develop, so that what is taught to students is more relevant and more interesting. This research was conducted to find out whether the lecturers of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science of State University of Malang are ideal regarding several competencies, namely pedagogical, professional, personality, and social according to the perceptions of 300 students. The method that can be used to determine student perceptions of ideal lecturers is by using conjoint analysis. The sampling technique used is the slovin technique. The combination that is considered important for students is providing a complete semester lecture plan at the beginning of the lecture, explaining the subject/topic thoroughly and being able to cite relevant examples, having a wise nature in making decisions, and having tolerance for the diversity of ethnic origin of students. From the results of the analysis obtained from respondents, pedagogical competence has a percentage of 40.38%, then the second competency that has been considered fulfilled is social competence at 27.13%. For the next, professional competence is 19.56%), and finally personality competence is 12.93%. Thus, student perceptions for pedagogical competence are considered important and have been well implemented by lecturers, but for personality competence it still needs to be improved. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc..
